About

2007 marks the 11th year of this annual art exhibition featuring the art of up and coming African Canadian Artists from the GTA and surrounding areas. Formerly the Black History Through Art Exhibition presented by the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

In the early years the exhibition took place during February r Black History Month, in the lobby of the Canadian Human Rights Commission at the comer of Bloor and Church Street in Toronto. The modest display featured original art inspired by themes of human rights and the African Canadian experience.Driven by the enthusiasm of it's regular visitors and corporate sponsors, the exhibition has grown each year since its Inception In 1996, expanding to Include more artists, more works of art and more venues. To meet the growing demand the exhibition was on public display in 2006 for over 5 months.

Our goal is to attract a new and expanded audience to this exhibition with the hope of inspiring others with the message of courage, love and respect prevalent throughout the displays. Art is an expression of life around us and a powerful way to bring difficult topics of discussion out in the open.
